The mind is a powerful healing tool. Imagery (visualization) has harnessed the power of the mind through various therapies for centuries. By creating images in your mind, you can reduce pain and other symptoms tied to your condition. The more specific the visualization, the more helpful it will likely be. People are taught to imagine sights, sounds, smells, tastes, or other sensations to create a kind of daydream that gives them control over their present circumstances.
Imagery usually involves a program with certain aims and goals. You are guided to visualize a scenario and work toward reducing a goal, usually being to reduce anxiety or stress.
Benefits of guided meditation:
Research suggests this technique can help with a number of physical and mental ailments including,
alleviates stress
pain management
reduces anxiety
decreases symptoms of depression
improves sleep quality
Guided meditation requires you to sit or lay still and begin focusing on your breath. In turn, this stimulates the body’s natural relaxation response and eventually help lower blood pressure and cortisol in the body.
I prefer to listen to handpan or nature sounds while meditating! Check out some of my favorite playlists here: Spotify handpan or spotify nature.
